Goodenough traveled to the hotel where his former partner was staying and verbally abused her and beat her companion using a tracking device on her phone.
He then continued to picture her fully naked. Goodenough pulled her from her hotel room to his car, implying that he had a knife and that her son was inside.
When she realized her son was not in the car, she attempted to flee. A witness intervened, allowing his ex-wife to exit the vehicle while Goodenough escaped.

Goodenough was found guilty of stalking with the intent to cause substantial fear or distress, as well as kidnapping.
Goodenough was sentenced to 12 months in jail at Aylesbury Crown Court on November 5, 2021. A ten-year restraining order was also issued against him.
After the sentencing, the Solicitor General appealed Goodenough’s sentence under the Unduly Lenient Sentence (ULS) scheme to the Court of Appeal.
