The Michigan born Garrett Clayton is an American actor and singer. He is famously known for his role in the 2013 Disney Channel movie Teen Beach Movie. He portrayed the role of Tanner in the movie. He is also known for his role in the 2015 sequel Teen Beach 2.
He has made appearances in other films, television, and stage roles. He was born in Dearborn, Michigan. His acting career began way back in high school. This was at Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Being a member of the drama club, he performed in many of the drama club’s productions.
He later attended Oakland University where he studied musical theater. He made appearances on Days of Our Lives and Shake It Up in the year 2010. Co-starring Ralph Macchio, as Blake, he appeared in the Lifetime movie Holiday Spin in December 2012. Blake was a rebellious teen forced to live with his father. This was after his mother is killed in a car accident.
In the role of Tanner, he appeared in the cast of Teen Beach Movie. He played a cool but vacuous surfer who is “a mix between Frankie Avalon and Link from Hairspray”. In the latter half of the first season of The Fosters, he had a recurring role.
He portrayed gay porn star Brent Corrigan in the film King Cobra. This was in the year 2016. He played gay with James Franco and Christian Slater. He also played the role of Link Larkin in the NBC television broadcast of Hairspray Live!
In 2017, he starred as Brady Mannion in the horror-thriller film Don’t Hang Up. That same year he also appeared on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse as Luke.
He played the role alongside Al Pacino and Judith Light in a six-week run of Dotson Rader’s play God Looked Away. It was about the later life of Tennessee Williams. He has also sung many songs. Among them; I put a smile on you and Shake it up
