Margaret Kenyatta is a Kenyan educator, social activist and the wife of incumbent Kenyan President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.
Margaret Kenyatta was born on April 8, 1964, to a Kenyan father, Njuguna Gakuo, and a German mother, Magdalena and named Margaret Gakuo Kenyatta.
She attended St. Andrews High School in Molo, Kenya, and received a Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University.
As the Kenyan First Lady, Gakuo has headed up a campaign, ‘Beyond Zero Campaign’ to help reduce child mortality rates, and on 24 October 2014, she was named Kenya Person of the Year.
